Young Achievers Award 2024

Nominate a male or a female aged 18-30 who has overcome professional or personal barriers or has excelled in a particular field i.e business, education, apprenticeship, or music. This individual may have excelled in providing learning opportunities to others in the community where they have developed their own personal skills or helped another to build on their own personal achievements.

This can also be someone who has leaped the trend and is doing something out of the extraordinary.

Sports Person Award 2024

This category is open to an individual that has helped someone through any sport or who has achieved something through any sport.

  • The individual could have shown or been influenced by something personal to them which sparked a project or an idea to help others in the community.
  • Through their motivation and mentoring of others around them, the individual may be seen as an outstanding person who deserves to be noticed by the community.
  • Has excelled in their sport and is now making progress towards what they would like to achieve.

Health and Social Care Award 2024

For this category, we are looking for someone who has made a significant contribution to the health and social care sector. This can include those who work in the medical, nursing or care field. Please express in no less than 250 words why he/she deserves to be recognized in their field.

Community Award 2024

This category aims to recognize the outstanding voluntary contributions made by an individual to the local community in the voluntary field touching the lives of so many people. Volunteering has many positive benefits for both the volunteer and the community but it is important to remember and acknowledge that volunteering is a freely chosen act of selflessness for the greater good. Volunteering transforms lives as it empowers individuals and strengthens communities and is a powerful force for social change with an immense economic value too.

                Criteria:

  1. Outline of the volunteering activity you are engaged with and the time spent + how long have they been volunteering
  2. What motivated them to volunteer
  3. What have they personally gained from the experience
  4. Describe any achievements both personally and for others
  5. Any particular challenges they have had to overcome

Outstanding Parent of the Year Award 2024

Nominate a father, a mother, or a role model who you value as a parent figure. Express in your own words why he/she is the best and include the inspiring things they have done for you and your family.

Cultural, Music & Arts Award 2024

This award is aimed at a male or a female individual who has been notably successful in the field of art and culture. We are looking for someone who has achieved prominence in their field as an: –

  • Artist
  • Dancer
  • Musician
  • Writer
  • Cultural leader

Through the work that they do, has enhanced, or inspired the cultural or performance life and experiences of the people of Nottingham.

Most Transformed Life 2024

This category is aimed at a male or a female who has gone through adversity and challenging circumstances and confronted the issues he/she faced and in doing so has turned his life and is now fulfilling his/her potential. We do not seek to prescribe what the Challenges are.

Criteria:

  1. Define what the challenges were without betraying confidence
  2. How did the nominee overcome challenges
  3. What organizations / individuals were key to helping nominee turn their life around
  4. Describe where they are now and what is the transformation
  5. What difference has it made to them and others around them
  6. How are they or would they like to use their experiences of the transformation to support others in difficulty

Black Businessperson Award 2024

Candidates for this award can be a businessman or woman running a small or large company/business in the East Midlands and surrounding areas who you feel acts as a positive role model to others in the community.

  • They must have run their business for at least 2 years. This can include running a business online
  • Through their business, they have provided employment to the local community or have provided a service that is credible to the community.
  • The individual is seen to have had a positive impact on society/ community or the environment

Lifetime Community Contributor Award 2024

This category is open to an individual with an outstanding record of achievement who ‘has, in their lifetime, made a significant contribution towards enhancing the lives of people in the Nottingham Community’. Nominees may come from any background or sector. A strong candidate is expected to have made an exceptional impact with distinct personal achievements over a prolonged period of involvement.
