We have closed the category for Lifetime Community Achievers Award as we have reached the number of nominations for that category. But there is still time to place your nominations for other categories on our website. You can also download a nomination form by clicking here and emailing it to You can also pick up a form from the reception desk at the Nottingham Community and Voluntary Service opposite House of Fraser on Mansfield Road and dropping it into the nominations box located next to the forms.

We have now opened the nominations page on our website for you to start nominating the person you feel deserves to be awarded for one of the 10 categories listed on our website.

When nominating someone, please provide suitable amount of information as to what they are involved in or have done to deserve the award.

If you would like to email the completed forms via email, please feel free to email them back to, or if you would like to post or hand them in to the nomination box, then you can do so by posting it to The Black Achievers Awards, 7 Mansfield Road, Nottingham NG1 3FB. We will also have a nomination box at the reception at NCVS (opposite House of Fraser).

We will be sending the nominations to the sponsors of the categories for them to choose the winner of the category.

Councillor Merlita Bryan Presents ‘The Black Achievers Awards 2017’

Save the date – Saturday 21 October, for the black tie event of the year. We have received many positive feedbacks from those who attended the Black Achievers Awards last year. Many of the sponsors, MBE’s and other special guests including the Lord Mayor praised the night as being the event to look forward to.

This is the fifth year of the awards and we are looking to build a bigger event as well as introducing something new this year.

As we are still heading into the beginning of the year 2017 we are already starting the planning of this year’s Black Achievers Awards. Last year was a successful comeback after Councillor Merlita Bryan had to miss out on a year due to her role as the Lord Mayor in 2014. The Black Achievers Awards 2016

Our Black Achievers Awards this year was a tremendous event. We would like to thank all of our sponsors for supporting the event and choosing the winners of 2016. If it wasn’t for your contribution, the event would not have been a success. We would also like to thank the attendees for attending the event and enjoying the atmosphere. We have received a lot of positive feedback from those who attended the event. Just a few days to go to The Black Achievers Awards 2016

To make it easier for you to find East Midlands Conference Centre, we have provided a map to give you an idea as to where the event will be held. 

The address is University Park, The University of Nottingham, NG7 2RJ. If you are using a satellite navigation system, please use NG7 2QL.

Parking is free on the night.

If you would like to enjoy the night, be safe or worried about parking issues, The University can provide taxis from the hotel with a capped price of under £10 for the evening. Please contact

It’s Black History Month! Have you got anything planned for this month?

The Black Achievers Awards is only weeks away. You’ve only got a few days left to nominate someone for one of our ten award categories. Closing date for nominations is Friday 7 October at 5pm for postal or handing it in to reception at Nottingham community and Voluntary Service, 7 Mansfield Road, Nottingham Ng1 3fb or at midnight for nominations placed online. We will be in touch with nominees soon after.

We will be selling tickets at Ultimate Barbers & Mitchells Soul Food Store until Thursday 13 October. Please get your tickets now to avoid disappointments. You can also contact if you would like tickets for the event.

Please note that tickets will not be sold on the doors on the night. No tickets, no entry.
