It’s Black History Month! Have you got anything planned for this month?

The Black Achievers Awards is only weeks away. You’ve only got a few days left to nominate someone for one of our ten award categories. Closing date for nominations is Friday 7 October at 5pm for postal or handing it in to reception at Nottingham community and Voluntary Service, 7 Mansfield Road, Nottingham Ng1 3fb or at midnight for nominations placed online. We will be in touch with nominees soon after.

Get your tickets now to find out the winners of 2016 and also to be entertained for the evening. Tickets sales will close on Monday 17 October.

Tickets will be available until the week before the event

We will be selling tickets at Ultimate Barbers & Mitchells Soul Food Store until Thursday 13 October. Please get your tickets now to avoid disappointments. You can also contact if you would like tickets for the event.

Please note that tickets will not be sold on the doors on the night. No tickets, no entry.

We’re under a month away from hosting this years Black Achievers Awards. Have you got your tickets? If not there is still time to get yours now. Click the link on the website to be transferred to eventbrite webpage. We are now selling tickets in Ultimate Barbers and Mitchells Soul Food Stores.

Tickets are only £21.83 which includes booking fee. You will receive a 3-course meal, performances from Take 1 Dance Studio & Millicent Stephenson, not to forget who are host is… Mr Curtis Walker ‘The Don’ of comedy. You will also witness the winners of the categories for 2016.

Nominations will close on Friday 7 October at 5pm if you are putting them in the nomination box that is located at reception at Nottingham Community and Voluntary Service, 7 Mansfield Road Nottingham, NG1 3FB.

Introducing this award winning Birmingham female saxophonist

We can now confirm that we will have performances from Millicent Stephenson. Described as ‘Sax Supremo’ by The Voice Newspaper, tutored by the late great saxophonist Andy Hamilton MBE, Millicent is the founder of Cafemnee (an organisation inspiring and empowering females musicians to achieve their musical goals) she is also a Songwriter, Vocalist, Pianist, Music Director, Teacher, Label Owner (Silver Gliss Music), wife and mother. Her latest release ‘Reflective Notes’, an album of self-penned originals and covers is available on sale this evening after her performance. Her versatile interpretations of iconic Jazz, Blues, Reggae, Soul and Gospel numbers as well as her original compositions continue to delight her listeners throughout the UK.

The Black Achievers Awards Host 2016 announced

This years Black Achievers Awards will be hosted by the one and only Mr Curtis Walker. Curtis Walker is ‘The Don’ of black comedy. He is a multi-talented performer and his indefinable comedy “moves an audience in a way I’ve never seen a stand-up do before” as said by William Cook via The Guardian.

Curtis Walker is a writer and British actor and has toured his own one man show, “Right Now” and is the voice of Carlton in the BBC Children’s comedy Kerching! and has starred in BBC comedy shows Paramount City. Come and enjoy a night of entertainment.

Exciting News – The Venue has been confirmed

The venue for the Black Achievers Awards 2016 has now been confirmed. It will be held at East Midlands Conference Centre. So get your best dressed on and look forward to a great night at this fantastic venue. You will also be served a fabulous 3 course meal on the night served by the lovely staff at East Midlands Conference Centre. Tickets well be available soon via our website. This is strictly a black tie event. Please, no children under the age of 16.
